CMN003008 CUMMINS 5.9/6.7 OFFSET KEY

New Cummins 5.9/6.7 Adjustable key ways. Allow you to adjust your cam +/- 8 degrees in 1 degree increments. Our Steel core cams are built to accept these new keys. They are made from alloy steel and case hardened for strength. The keys are 3/8 at the bottom, and are milled to fit the stock gear key slot. The wide base allows for maximum material cross section to help reduce key failure. Also can be used on stock, and other aftermarket cores with modification of camshaft keyway.

Why would you need this? Sometimes for instance the aftermarket cams have very tight piston to valve clearance. By using one of these keys you can adjust the cam slightly to increase your clearance. Most of our cams are setup to work from 98 to 100 deg. Intake center line, but will still work well at 101-104. Also in performance applications, you might find it beneficial to adjust your cam to move your power band up or down in the rpm range. This allows you to do that at a more affordable cost than an adjustable gear.
